Staying at Magee Homestead: A Luxury Guest Ranch in The Great American West
Imagine wide open plains, and the patter of horses galloping freely through the morning mist. A warm breeze cascading through autumn’s rustling trees and over the brush. Gleams of sunlight peeking through the soft clouds and into the windows of your cozy cabin. This is Magee Homestead at Brush Creek Ranch. Undoubtedly, one of the most spectacular 5 star luxury guest ranches you could ever dream of.

My recent stay at Wyoming’s Magee Homestead was one for the books. In my opinion, a property that fully immerses you in nature is the best kind of property. Vast open spaces, an abundance of trees, rolling hills and flowing creeks provide a magical backdrop to this luxury guest ranch. Situated on the property of Brush Creek Ranch, Magee Homestead is truly heaven on earth. Offering an extremely intimate setting, they have only 9 historically restored luxury cabins. Accommodating a maximum of 27 guests at any one time. Indeed, my idea of peace and tranquility but with a wild west twist.
The Social Spaces
The main dining room of Magee Homestead is very cozy and romantic. Fireplaces and the use of wood and stone come together to create the perfect ambiance. Without a doubt, even dreamier than what one might imagine for a luxury guest ranch.
Serving delicious cuisines inspired by the traditions of the Western United States, chef AJ Buchanio and his team really know how to impress. Not to mention, the mixed drinks and extensive wine list are top notch. The restaurant seamlessly connects to the bar and lounge area. Thus, allowing for a smooth flow into social hour after dinner. My favorite place to relax was the back patio. Nestled in those comfy cushions underneath that ambient string lighting, I could watch the sunset as the horses grazed. Further down, the large fire pit area blazed with seating all around. Ultimately serving as a great spot for a nightcap and s’mores.
Moving on, a sparkling pool and private cabanas grace the grounds of this wild west luxury guest ranch. Adjacent to the pool is a restaurant and bar where guests can enjoy a beautiful lunch or mid-day beverage with a view.
Explore The Ranch Lands
Not only is Magee Homestead is one of the more relaxing places I have stayed in a long while, but it is also full of adventure just the same. From late May through mid-October Magee provides guests with an unparalleled range of activities. Your days can be spent horseback riding through the open landscapes, or ATVing through the trails of the expansive ranch lands.
Furthermore, Magee is home to some of the best fly fishing on the planet. For fishing lovers or those who are curious to learn, this is the place to be. There’s nothing quite like sitting next to a glistening river, surrounded by trees and fresh air to make you feel at peace. There many more outdoor activities to enjoy as a guest of this luxury guest ranch including: hiking, hunting, trail running and guided ranger tours.
Slow Down & Relax
After your many adventures, you can step into the sanctuary that is the luxury wellness spa. The Magee Homestead experience provides a refined and thoughtful assortment of wellness offerings. Including: a luxury resort spa, yoga and meditation in the Yoga Yurt, and a full fitness center. Between the magnificent surroundings of the property and the array of wellness options, rejuvenation of the mind, body, and spirit are surely in store.
Not surprisingly, one of my favorite parts of my stay was my trip to the remarkable Magee Homestead greenhouse. It was full of many of the ingredients they use in the cuisine served in the restaurant. It was a welcomed, slower-paced activity to indulge in; and such a treat.
The Brush Creek Luxury Guest Ranch Collection Summary
Magee Homestead is one of 3 all-inclusive luxury guest ranches on the sprawling 30,000 acres of Brush Creek Ranch. This ranch land dates back to the late 1800’s; when it became a hub for settlers, trappers and loggers. Each of the 3 luxury properties are ripe with endless adventure opportunities and breathtaking surroundings. In this sense, all-inclusive means that your stay includes lodging, amenities, food, beverages and a vast collection of ranch activities.
To start, Magee Homestead is a 21 and over, intimate setting, with only 9 cozy cabins on the property. It is best suited for couples or smaller adult groups. There is also the option to rent the entire property for a maximum of 27 guests. This luxury guest ranch provides an extremely bespoke and one-of-a-kind experience.
The Lodge and Spa at Brush Creek Ranch
Secondly, another not-to-be-missed property is the Lodge & Spa At Brush Creek Ranch. This is an extraordinary luxury guest ranch that I really hope to stay at in the future. During my stay at Magee, I was able to spend some time at Brush Creek Ranch. They offer a true ranch experience. The difference is that this property is larger, accommodating up to 150 guests.
With an abundance epic outdoor activities, it is suited for all types of groups, including families or large gatherings. They provide ranch activities like horseback riding, wellness options, shooting sports and trail adventures. You can even “glamp” or try challenge pursuits, like paintballing, rock climbing, zip-lining or a ropes course. They also have an entire kid focused program, offering endless kid friendly activities.
French Creek Sportsman’s Club
Lastly, and certainly not least, is the French Creek Sportsmen’s Club. This is the premier destination in the United States for professional big game and bird hunting guides, fly fishing experts, and classic western outdoor sporting adventures. Undoubtedly, hunters and fisherman will be in heaven at this sporting paradise. Situated on 15,000 acres of pristine beauty, this property is very intimate with only 4 luxury guest cabins on this property. They generally accommodate a maximum of 12 people. Although, there are further accommodation options for larger groups.
